Some very exciting news - well, I'm certainly excited! I'm proud to present my first range of beautiful, hand-finished artcards: each a mini version of one of my original paintings.
Designs clockwise from top centre are: Georgina :: Them's Guinea Fowls :: Pearlessence :: Black Cat's Birthday (& the Dancing Blackbutts) :: Barry - King of the Chookhouse :: Fish out of Water :: Chooks Exotica.

Morning Milk: Oil Painting
This is a recent oil painting of me watching my friend Matt milking our cow, Daisy-doo. My farm animals continue to be an inspiration to my work. At the moment I'm working on a really, really big painting of our Friesian cow Beauty - and what a beauty she is!

Pechakucha Nambour: Hamlet's Fate
I don't really like public speaking, but I was talked into presenting at Pechakucha night #4 at Nambour Civic Centre, along with 8 other creative people, including designers, photographers and artists.
The audience was really enthusiastic about my work and I'm really happy that I managed to pluck up the courage. Here's the two of me showing "Hamlet's Fate", an oil painting on canvas of my friend's pig, Hamlet. The painting features the text of a poem written by my brother (not visible in this photo).
You can see more of Pechakucha Night over here at Flickr.

Pretty Pink Bathrooms...
It's no secret to anyone who knows me that I absolutely adore pink! I even have a big pink mower called Marilyn - with a matching two-tone pink grease gun. And my bathroom is a symphony in pink, as you can see:
It's a work in progress though, as for the life of me I can't find a pink toilet. (If anyone out there knows of one, please please let me know!).
My love of pink and porcelain came together in this portrait. I'd been inspired to draw some sketches of my bathroom in my diary. On another page, purely from imagination, I'd drawn this girl with a rose in her hair. In this painting, I've blended the two themes together into a surreal, dreamlike image:

Chook Lover? 3 New Paintings in Berkelouw's!
Today we hung three new paintings from my farmyard series in Berkelouw's classy Eumundi bookstore. Do pop in and have a look if you're in town.
Above left: Gathering of Chooks. Above right: Chooks Exotica (both mixed media on paper).
And here's me.
Told you the shop was classy. And yes, I know I haven't posted a closeup of the painting above right (Georgina). Guess you'll just have to come in and meet her in person!

Beyond the White Church
Oil paint on board: 1.7 x 1.7:
I first photographed these churches in Stanley, North-West Tasmania. When I came to paint them, I felt the urge to add some macabre elements.

The Sorceress
In this oil painting I have depicted a woman wearing a cake on her head, the cake being the stars in the night sky. Her necklace is also heathens dancing around a fire - Guy Fawkes night maybe? Behind this solemn yet powerful lady is a hypnotic disk, like a black hole with mundane objects flying into it - telephones, high heels and TV's.
